#Blog Jeroen at DreamHack

When I began writing this, everyone started clapping. Not for me unfortunately. No, although I deserve a big cheer every day, they were clapping because the Tetris Theme Song was playing. Yes my dear ladies and gentlemen, the people at DreamHack aren’t people you see every day. Let’s start by talking about some Swedish fashion. We call it Zweedse mode here. A lot of dudes are walking around in pink sleeping wear all day long, and then there are also these human chicken dudes with their mohawk haircuts. Today I will try to walk around with Angelo or Toine from the video team to make a video blog about this Swedish fashion, as well as the hot chicks and our Dutch poppetjes.

Let’s back up a little to where we were though. I wrote about my fears before the event started and about the twenty hours in a bus. After arriving, I had to help the Packers with their wrist bands. It was cold and it rained a little, so that sucked big time. But after that everything went better. The whole day I was tired to be honest. I didn’t sleep much of course, so I was ‘zo gaar als boter’, which describes that I was very tired. I didn’t really like my first day, but looking back that was just because of me being tired. Luckily I’m not sleeping in the sleeping hall at DreamHack. No, me, Hennie, Herman and Lieneke are sleeping in a cottage. Luckily we have the good one. Steph, Matthijs, Anja and Tom are sleeping in the cottage next to us and they complained about a bad smell. The cottages made me think about the village of the Smurfs. Even from the inside. A Smurf house isn’t that big, and when we entered the cottage, we saw four beds in the living room and a bathroom. O well, still better than sleeping between so many people and I slept for ten hours on my first night.

Like I said I’m enjoying myself more at the moment. I am happy to say that I met some new people in the past few days. For example, I talked a bit about Fallout with Anja and she seems really nice. Then we have Bram, Frido and Eric. Bram is the Belgian guy I mentioned in my previous blog and Frido and Eric are two of the Limburgers. I’m a fan of how enthusiastic Frido is, and he already wrote a blog for the website, just like Steph, Aster, Thijs and Pim. Also, my first impression of Toine from the video team wasn’t that great, but he is a very funny man. I should also mention Annelize, the lovely young lady sitting next to me. Great music taste and fun to talk with. Don’t know if I’m forgetting anyone, but most of our Packers are just awesome. I think everyone is just ‘toppie toppie’, and no, you wouldn’t find that in a Dutch dictionary.

376050_294386830596114_166711190030346_987490_743325048_nRight now, Intel Netherlands is making a video featuring Rob and Dick. Dick is going to spin some records on the main stage tonight. I’m going to watch that, which means I have to listen to some sucky hardstyle music. My hopes for some metal music aren’t very high. What’s more to say? My Coca Cola Light tastes a bit like bubblegum and I’m wondering if that’s a bit of Swedish flavour or not. The food around here is taken care of by the way. The halls are filled with places where you can buy pizza’s, hamburgers et cetera and they sell candy as well. The Daim candybars are delicious. I just had a nice Daim breakfast because there were nog nice sandwiches available at the Kiosk. Alcoholic beverages aren’t allowed, but in the restaurant we ate, Dick had two beers. Quite expensive. His meal was around 150 SEK and the two beers were as well. Ridiculous.

My last few lines should be about our sponsor. Kurt from Intel is a very nice guy. Normally I would say something about the way he talks because he’s from Belgium and all, but you almost can’t hear it. So I actually had an understandable conversation with a Belgian dude. No, without joking: Kurt is awesome and I guess we will all receive an Intel Pack4DreamHack pajama outfit during DreamHack Winter 2012, along with the Intel Pack4DreamHack mohawk haircut.
