In about one extreme long week, Dreamhack Winter 2010 will start again. For me it will be the second time that I will be attending this enormous digital festival, exactly one year ago I went along for the first time with Intel Pack4Dreamhack to the ever in the winter cold, Sweden.
That this trip will be the second time for me probably gives enough proof that the first time was an excellent experience. A lot of great guys and girls joined that trip and everybody could had a great time. Maybe it was because everybody has the same hobbies, but that’s not the point. The point is that everybody had a great time. You can read all about these experiences somewhere around here.
The first Dreamhack is always a journey, many new things to see and a lot of experiences to experience. This time I will be more prepared, so I don’t need to bring all the unnecessary stuff that will only be in the way.
Same as last year I will be staying in a hotel, good for a fully served breakfast table and some night sleep. So I couldn’t give any advice on your sleeping gear.
What to bring to Dreamhack:
– Laptop or pc
– Monitor (if you don’t got a laptop)
– Power cables
– Keyboard and mouse
– Headset
– Network Cable (15 meters is a good length, but longer will be better)
– Anti theft lock for Laptop, LCD, external hard drive etc…
– Mousepad
– Multiple power outlet
– Cell phone
– Cell phone charger
– Camera or Photo Camera (be sure to bring this item, there will be some fun stuff to do with it)
– Recovery dvd’s. Unlike other lanparty’s you may have visited, not many people bring a dutch or English Windows install. It is mostly in Swedish.
Time for some hygiene:
– Tooth brush
– Tooth paste
– Shampoo
– Hair gel
– Towels (for showering)
– Clothes
More important:
– Passport or ID card
– Medicines
– Some money, Swedish currency (the cheapest way is to exchange this money at your local office, or using the ATM @ the Elmia Halls themselves)
Things you should definitely not bring:
– Alcohol or drugs (Dreamhack has a zero tolerance about this item. If you get caught with this, you can get send away from Dreamhack).

You may also want to bring an extra pillow for on your chair since the DreamHack chairs aren’t like the luxury fauteuils you are used to at dutch and belgium lans 😉
To add to stuff to take with you (Bed gear etc.):
– An extra t-shirt (or 2)
– An extra sweater
– A inflatable bed / stretcher
– An air pump
– A sleeping pillow
– A sleeping bag

Oh and if you’re planning on sleeping at DreamHack be sure to claim your sleeping spot early at night because you’re entirely screwed if you can’t find yourself a place to sleep lol.
