Jeroen Ultra Live from a Book

Published on June 15th, 2012

So here we are again; Intel Pack4DreamHack. Last Winter Edition was the first time I went to Sweden with our awesome bus. I was afraid of the snow that was to be expected, but it actually only rained now and then. Lucky lucky! Thanks to Intel we have an Ultrabook with us to keep you up to date about the trip. Not that I will constantly blog about how everyone is doing, but it seemed like a good idea to do that at least once. Let me first tell you about this Ultrabook though. It’s so thin and light, just like a frisbee. We didn’t throw the thing around of course, but it’s such a handy thing to take with you. It also plays games just fine. I think I actually packed my tablet as well somewhere, but I probably stick to the Ultrabook coming days. It also makes a nice sound when I’m at the end of my document.

Now I wanted to tell you about our Packers. Most of you are probably family and friends of our Packers that stayed behind, others are people from Sweden, attending DreamHack as well. Let me tell you about some of my bus mates. The trip is organized by Stefan, Rob and me. Rob takes the lead, Stefan is the main guy from Duh-Events and I make sure no one gets left behind whenever we make a stop. That way I can talk to everyone! That mostly means I ask their names all the time so I can write down that they’re inside again. For Rob, and probably Rina as well, this is the tenth Intel Pack4DreamHack trip. I told you last year how I had trouble understanding them because they’re from Limburg, but I’m picking up more and more and they’re really nice. Next to me is Samantha, our intern at Duh-Events at the moment. She is currently reading what I’m writing about her I think. So, there you have it Samantha. I’m doing ‘de groetjes’ to Peter for her, which means ‘saying hi’.

Behind me sits the Intel Pack4DreamHack video team. Marlon joined us again, this time with Joel and Gui… some guy with a hard French name. We’ll be making sure that they’re going to shoot some kick ass movies again. Gamelux is sitting somewhere behind them, had a nice talk with Tim and them about some eSports related stuff I think. Tom and Luc Marc are here as well. Luc Marc is going to take scary pictures of people again, but I guess he will also make a lot of nice photos of the bus and the event itself. And Tom is just here as well, no reason, just laying back, relaxing for a while…

He is actually sleeping, like a lot of them are doing at the moment. I mean; yeah, it is dark outside already, but it’s only a quarter to eleven! But I guess it’s a good thing, since it made me start writing this blog. Although I’m not certain if me writing blogs is such a good thing, but if you read this you read a lot already.

Since we have a double decker bus, there are people sitting above as well. I don’t know all of them, but I try to name a few. I know that our Belgian mate Jan is sitting there. All the other Flemish gangsters are at home, but he was hardcore enough to go with us even without his original friends. There are a lot of other Belgians though, like Niek. I remember him because of his funny last name. The other Belgians I remember aren’t really Belgians. There are three guys from South Africa with us that study in Belgium. Only know Sarel by name though.

Then we have a lot of StarCraft fans sitting above us. Pim and Daniel know about us thanks to the Dutch Barcraft events, and there are also some guys that will play in the upcoming StarCraft II tournament at DreamHack. Some Counter-Strike players joined us as well, but they just play it as friends instead of playing it in some professional, competitive way. Other Packers I should mention: a guy with a funny moustache and his wife, a dude in some kind of dress I think and Frank, dressed in ‘Dutch soccer orange’ while we really didn’t play that well.

No problems so far, everyone is very nice. We just made a stop to switch bus driver Barry for bus driver Bert. What’s up with all those bus drivers starting their first name with a ‘B’? It’s a bus driving mystery… I think it’s also worth mentioning that I bought some Mountain Dew at our last stop. Why do they only sell that at the Jumbo in The Netherlands? It’s so much better than most soft drinks. We also saw a German marching band at eleven pm. It woke everyone up. Samantha owns a really cool neck pillow, which is also worth mentioning. It features some ladybugs, which is really badly translated in Dutch. We say ‘lieveheersbeestje’ in our country, which literally translates to ‘insect of the sweet lord’. Weird. Well, that concludes my blog for today. Remember the Dutch words I told you in this blogs and in my previous blogs. In my next blog I will place a small contest where all ‘non Benelux people’ can win Race 07 for Steam. Look forward to it!
