Taking the stage at The Party 8

Published on April 15th, 2010

One of our Packers was a volunteer at The-Party 8 and he has written a blog about it! Here it is.

The week before The-Party 8 has been a hectic for all the volunteers of The Party 8.
From the organization to network specialists, they worked there ass off to get everything done in time. For the competition admins it wasn’t different. Not only did the competition admins lead their competitions, some of them were helping to set up the stage for the finals of Counterstrike 1.6, Fifa10 and Unreal Tournament 2004 instagib. Others got their emergency first responders certificate in just 5 hours, congratulations to all of them!

To build a stable stage for 10 heavy game pc’s sponsored by Azerty, is a hell of a job with just some old fabric tiles and duct tape. With a group of 10 volunteers we successfully build this stage. After we built the stage, we needed to dress the stage with tables and, of course, the 10 game pc’s. This wasn’t the hardest part of building this stage at The Party 8, no, installing game pc’s by cloning the hard disks was the hardest part of completing this stage. When they were finally successfully installed, up and running around Saturday afternoon, just hours before the first final started.

I want to thank one of the competition admins specifically for making that happen, he took care of this, relative easy job to fix, but in the end it was just a pain in the ass. All the volunteers who helped building the stage, thank you! Without these amazing volunteers, there would be no on-stage finales this year! For now I congratulate all the winners of the competitions from The Party 8, I want to thank DUH-Events for setting up another great LAN-party, and last but not least, I want to thank all of the competition admins for their great job with all the competitions they organized.
