Intel Game Angels: An Interview with Sjlot!

Sjlot

Last week we introduced our Intel Game Angels whom will be competing against other female gaming teams at DreamHack Winter 2010! One of the most popular gaming girls in Belgium had a little bit of time, besides all the practice, for a little interview. With pride we introduce Charlotte van Brabander, maybe better known as Sjlot!

So Charlotte, tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Charlotte ‘Sjlot’ van Brabander and I’m a female gamer. To be more exact I play CounterStrike. It’s one of the most famous online first person shooters. Two years ago I was a member of a female gaming team and we went to the world championship of gaming. Currently I am practicing for Dreamhack. I don’t have an official team anymore, it’s very hard to find good girls in Belgium to make a team with. Instead, I’m trying to promote female gaming in the Benelux by doing a lot of shootout’s. A shootout is a sort of setup where I challenge boys to play against me and most of the times I beat them. Beating guys gives me an extremely happy feeling :D. I always wanted to show guys that girls can be as good as them in ‘their’ male hobbies.

Recently you did a photoshoot with your sister for a magazine called P-Magazine, while we think the shoot is fabulous, how we’re the reactions afterwards?

Well there were a lot of different reactions. Most of the guys loved the pictures but there were a few who were surprised because I’m known as a sweet cute little girl that KILLS boys in CounterStrike. I think some fans loved me that way and maybe that’s why some were a little shocked. And then we also had some swedish reactions. They were like OMG?! was it you who did a photoshoot for that magazine?! In Sweden they are very conservative. They aren’t used to shoots like that but here in Belgium a shoot like this is more normal, every famous girl does a shoot like that, so. Even some girl that got famous because of a cooking program on television became a covergirl. Anyway Sweden here I come! 😉

No boys following you on the street?

Haha, it happens that people recognize me. But hell no that they are following me.

So DreamHack, ever been there? What are you’re expectations for an event this size?

No, I’ve never been to Dreamhack. I think I’m gonna love Sweden, besides the bad weather. I am looking forward to seeing the world’s biggest lanparty!

How much are you looking forward to Intel Pack4DreamHack?

Well, I’m a little bit nervous because people expect alot of us. But it’s been a long time since I’ve played in team. So I hope it’s gonna work out well. But I’m really honored that such a big company as Intel wanted to help us out with this trip!

Did you ever play with your teammates before? What are your expectations and how is practice going?

Well. Gina was the one who asked me to join this challenge. She’s an old teammate of me. She was one of the best of our team. I know Kitty as being one of the best UK girls and now she lives in Belgium. And last, but not least I’m looking forward to play with aNNa. I didn’t know she played in teams like Les Seules, which is the team I looked up to in my beginning days. The last, girl Malla, I had never heard of but she’s very good! I can’t wait to finally do some real practice matches against other female teams because now we’re doing tactics and so on.

What is your favorite gamegear, and most importantly, do you have an Intel PC?

Yes, I have a motherboard from Intel. I’m not such a geeky girl that I know all the specs of my computer, sorry. But yeah, Intel it is! :) Now I’m playing with my SteelSeries Iron.Lady gear. It was love at first sight. Why hello?! Which girl doens’t like a pink headset and mouse! :)

Thanks for the interview!

” I think I’m gonna love Sweden, besides the bad weather”
Er is geen slecht weer, alleen veel kou en sneeuw. Eigenlijk is het meestal best lekker weer als er veel sneeuw ligt 😀
