Lars Douwe ‘glGiant’ Schuitema is a 19-year old StarCraft 2 player whom wants to go pro and has choosen Intel Pack4DreamHack in his path to fame. He currently lives in Enschede, The Netherlands and will be playing the SC2 BYOC competition at DreamHack Summer 2011

When the signups for Intel Pack4Dreamhack went live I immediately signed up and told my parents I might go to Sweden for yet another tournament. Right away I started practicing for the upcoming event. Sadly, a few weeks later I got an email from the organisation the bus was full, and there wasn’t any room for me anymore. But then, one week later, they mailed me again, they had a spot free and off course I said ‘Yes I’m available’!

At The Party, last April, I also played the StarCraft 2 competition. Because I didn’t win I did not receive an invite to the Main Tournament at DreamHack and I will have to fight my way through the BYOC competition. Not that I have great hopes of getting through it, but I’m willing to give it a try. I try to look at it as a good practice for LAN experience and off course for the Benelux Gaming LAN, as I hope to finish in the top 4 at that event. Currently my average is between 5-8th on LAN’s, and I want to get better and change that.

My preparations are not as I wanted them to be. I set a though schedule for myself which would have definitely helped me to play a lot better. Sadly I suddenly had some personal appointments I had to go to, and also having exams instantly after the two upcoming tournament cut into my practice time, because I have to do some homework.

This will be my first time going to Sweden and Dreamhack and I’m really looking forward to have some fun and increase my skills in StarCraft 2 a lot!
