DreamHack is made possible by 500 volunteers who together plan, build, run and teardown the event in a total period of three months. The start of building is approximately five days before the event is opened for visitors. In this lecture you will get to know the DreamHack Crew and learn how we build the world’s largest computer festival!
One big part of DreamHack is gaming, chatting and much more communication. In the first part of the lecture Karl “IcE” Andersson, team leader for the network team, will talk about the network that help enable all this and the people who build it.
In the second part Toste “Toast” Staver, team leader for the info team, will talk about the first meetings months before the event, how the teams are built and what it means to be crew. He describe how hard work, knowledge and a lot of fun ideas make a fabulous DreamHack.
In the last part Robin ”DrZobin” Larsson will explain anycast DNS, how we use it at DreamHack and why it kicks ass! Robin will also talk about how to streamline you software deployment with code using the “Don’t Repeat Yourself (DRY)” thinking.
The presentation will be given at DreamArena Orange at 6pm (18:00) on Friday 25th of November, and the video team of Intel Pack4DreamHack will be there to make a little movie about it! This way you at home can also find out how DreamHack works.
Last Summer we also did a behind the scenes movie about the DreamHack network. The 12 minute video explains a lot about how everyone communicates through the network of DreamHack:
