We bring light to DreamHack with this flashy goodie!

Published on November 19th, 2014

Since the dawn of time, Man has always been afraid of the dark and the horrors that might lurk inside it. This primal fear originated from not knowing what lies ahead, so basically fear of the unknown. When fire was discovered, mankind found a way to drive away the darkness and keep predators at bay. From that day on, Man made sure to bring light with them everywhere they went, mainly for safety and survival. Over the many years, light sources have  developed from a simple fire and a torch to light bulbs and LEDs. Nowadays a source of light comes in many different forms.

This advance of technology brought with it thousands of new possibilities and ways to live, but also different kinds of people. Some of these people though favor darkness over light and are most active in the evening and night. These people are called many things, but we know them best as Gamers. Confined to a dark place, these Gamers are easily agitated and might start to “rage” when they encounter something they don’t like. We of Intel Pack4DreamHack have made it our task to get these Gamers out of their little dark places and bring them to a bigger and darker place called DreamHack.

Even though these people favor the dark, light can be useful for them. When not focused on their bright computer screens, they’ll need some sort of lightsource to see in the dark. During winter in Sweden, sunlight is something you only have for a couple of hours per day, and in the dark halls of DreamHack light is hard to come by too. We want to provide the Gamers we bring along with something to see in the dark with, their own personal light source to make sure they don’t break their necks tripping over other people’s stuff. So for this Intel Pack4DreamHack Winter 2014 edition, every Packer will receive their very own exclusive Alternate flashlight!

This flashlight is perfect for use at DreamHack to light your way through the crowded paths of the many halls. But not only will it guide you back to your computer when you’re lost in the dark, it has many other uses. What other uses might you ask? Well, we had our very own Jeroen test out the flashlight and its many uses, and we recorded it on video for your viewing pleasure. Curious to see what is possible with this nifty gadget? Then check out the video above!
